Russia remains key aluminum supplier to South Korea
According to an analysis by RIA Novosti based on data from South Korean customs, Russia retained its position as the leading supplier of aluminum to South Korea in February, marking the fifth consecutive month of dominance. This trend was last observed in 2012.
At the end of winter, South Korea imported 37.6 thousand tons of raw aluminum from Russia, totaling $105.5 million in value. Year-over-year, supply volumes surged by nearly 40% in physical terms and 1.7 times in monetary terms.
Thus, Russia has maintained its role as South Korea’s primary aluminum supplier for five consecutive months. The previous prolonged period of Russian leadership in aluminum exports to the country was recorded over 12 years ago, from October 2011 to November 2012.
