RUSAL invests over 2.6 bln rubles in modernizing the Bogoslovsk aluminum smelter
RUSAL (SEHK: 486; Moscow Exchange: RUAL), one of the leading global aluminium producers, has invested a total of around 2.6 billion rubles in the development and modernization of the Bogoslovsk aluminum smelter (BAZ) and Bogoslovsk CHP over the past three years.
This has included the re-equipment of Bogoslovsk aluminum smelter with latest technology which has resulted in an increase in the volume of alumina production of more than 55 thousand tonnes and a significant reduction in the cost of production.
Both the decomposition unit and the pump stock at the Bogoslovsk aluminum smelter are being upgraded, and the tank equipment is being replaced.
As part of the equipment upgrade at Bogoslovsk CHP, the main equipment at the station is currently undergoing modernization to significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of the CHP.
"The upgrade of key operating equipment as part of the broader modernization program will not only increase the safety of workplaces but also improve working conditions for employees. The gradual and complex program has resulted in an alumina production increase of over one million tonnes per year whilst reducing the cost of the finished products and increasing efficiency of production", - said Yakov Itskov, Director of Alumina Business of RUSAL.
Bogoslovsk aluminum smelter is an alumina refinery, located in Krasnoturyinsk, Sverdlovsk region, Russia. It uses bauxite of the North Ural Deposit (SUBR) as a raw material.
