Zagorsk Pipe Plant and POSCO Become Partners
Reportedly, Zagorsk Pipe Plant and POSCO (South Korea) became strategic partners. Both companies signed a cooperation agreement on supplies of steel flats from South Korea and for pipes manufacture at Zagorsk. The decision to sign the cooperation agreement with POSCO was made after the supply of 10 000t of X70 grade steel sheets in March-April 2017. The quality of the South Korean steel is highly evaluated in Zagorsk. Logistics risks related to supplies of steel sheets from the Far East are eliminated due to optimization of transportation schemes by Zagorsk Pipe Plant and Russian Railways. Thus, the terms of transportation will not exceed 14 days which in general is not more than the transportation terms from Russian producers. “Due to the cooperation with one of the world leading steel producers we can timely receive steel sheets of required quality. Though we choose POSCO as a priority supplier, we are open to cooperation with other producers, Russian and international, not focusing on one supplier”, commented Denis Safin, General Manager, Zagorsk Pipe Plant. “Russia is a very interesting market for us. We consider Zagorsk Pipe Plant as a new and promising player in the Russian pipes market and we hope that POSCO products will be in demand at Zagorsk’, said Kim Sang Hyeon, Director for Sales of Steel Sheets, API POSCO.
