Severstal to supply tubes for Power of Siberia
Severstal has won a tender to supply about 160,000 tons of large diameter pipes for for Gazprom's major gas transmission project Power of Siberia. The pipes are to be manufactured by the Izhora Pipe Mill (IPM), a part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division.
Construction of the pipeline involves supply of 14.2 meter pipes produced of K60 grade plates with 21.7 mm wall thickness with inner and outer anti-corrosion coating. IPM’s large-diameter pipes are made using self-rolled sheet produced at the 5000 Sheet Rolling Mill at the Cherepovets Steel Mill’s #3 Sheet Shop.
Vitaly Motorin, director of pipe production for Severstal’s Russian Steel division, commented: «Izhora Pipe Mill already has experience of successful production of pipes for Power of Siberia Project. Besides, Severstal as a vertically integrated steel company produces its own raw materials, has its own steelmaking and rolling facilities that altogether provide substantial synergies for the company.»
Pipes will be delivered to the consumer by river and railway transport.
