OEMK passed compliance audit
Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) confirmed compliance of its occupational health and safety management system with OHSAS 18001:2007 standard. Experts of Bureau Veritas, a certification body, conducted a compliance audit during the period from 26 February to 01 March.
The OEMK’s management system originally received a certificate of compliance with the standard in 2006. In 2012, the plant successfully passed its regular re-certification audit, which should be performed every three years in accordance with requirements set by the certification body.
Nikolay Shlyakhov, Managing Director of OEMK, commented: “Employee safety is one of priority areas of METALLOINVEST’s activities. At OEMK, we continuously implement measures to further enhance safety in the work place. In 2012, the plant spent over RUB400 million on occupational health and safety projects. The certificate for compliance with the international standard demonstrates that the plant deals with industrial safety issues in line with requirements recognised globally.”
