METALLOINVEST begins construction of oxygen facility at OEMK
METALLOINVEST, a leading global iron ore and HBI producer based in Russia, announces the signing of an agreement with Linde (Austria) to build a new oxygen facility at Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) with a cryogenic air-separation installation with a capacity of at least 20,000 Am3/h of oxygen.
According to the terms of the agreement, construction of the oxygen facility will begin in June 2012. The facility is planned to be brought into service in September 2014. Total investments in the project are expected to amount RUR 3.1 billion.
The new installation will provide oxygen-separating products to meet OEMK’s existing and potential needs. This is particularly important in light of the current comprehensive investment programme taking place at the plant to increase the volume of steel production to 3.85 million tonnes.
The Russian developer LLC “The City Institution for Designing Metallurgical Plants” will be responsible for the planning and management of the project.
