Izhorskiye Zavody finalizes fabrication of reactor vessel for Leningrad NPP-2
Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has finalized the fabrication of the first VVER-1200 reactor vessel for Leningrad NPP-2.
One of the final stages of the manufacturing successfully completed control assembly of the reactor vessel with in-vessel devices and head block shield.
The results of the control assembly were evaluated by the commission, which includes: representatives of Leningrad NPP-2, experimental design bureau «Hydropress», Federal state unitary enterprise «Bezopasnost», specialists of Izhorskiye Zavody.
The contract for the manufacturing and supplement of power equipment for Leningrad NPP-2, which is currently being built for capacity substitution of operating Leningrad NPP, was signed in 2008. In contract frames Izhorskiye Zavody will supply vessel equipment for two power units: reactor vessels with in-vessel devices, upper blocks and pressure compensation valves.
Leningrad NPP-2 is being built in accordance with AES-2006, representing evolutionary engineering change well-known and successfully used NPP technology with water-cooled reactor. Life cycle of power-generating units, developed in accordance with AES-2006 project, is prolonged to 60 years. This is the second VVER-1200, developed by Izhorskiye Zavody. The first one was supplied to Novovoronezh NPP – 2 in May this year.
