Dutch students visit Koks

OAO Koks was visited by a group of students from the Delft Technical University in the Netherlands, led by their instructor and academic advisor Marike Kaipers. The multi-national group of students is studying the cultural legacy of the Kuzbass AIC (Autonomous Industrial Colony). This is why OAO Koks was one of the first stops on their itinerary: the Kemerovo Coke Chemical Plant served as the basis for the colony, and eventually a city was built around the business. Following a meeting with the Managing Director of OAO Koks, Sergey Dyakov, the foreign visitors toured the factory, where they familiarized themselves with OAO Koks' modern equipment. The guests paid special attention to historic facilities that have remained on the factory's territory from the time of its creation: the building that housed the old electric workshop and the coal tower. After that, the students viewed the modern equivalents of these old structures. To conclude their visit, the guests visited a photograph exhibition entitled “A Factory Album,” which included both historic and contemporary photos of the factory and factory personnel. The Dutch students will spend another week in Kemerovo. They will visit other historic monuments and the state regional archive, where they will study historical documents concerning the Kuzbass AIC. On 22 April, the Dutch students will present their theses at the Krasnaya Gorka museum. Representatives from OAO Koks have been invited to this event.
