The group of companies Severstaltrans has concluded a transaction for an acquisition of JSC Petrolessport (PLP), one of the biggest stevedore companies of St. Petersburg port.

The total area of the terminal is 110 ga. In 2006 PLP’s container turnover grew 60% exceeding 313 thou TEU. Besides trans-shipments of container and refrigerator cargoes, the stevedore deals with general and other types of cargoes.

Today the Group of Companies Severstaltrans plans to fulfill an investment program aimed at increasing of the volume of containers shipment up to 1,5-2 million TEU per year.

Mr. Chovushyan, new Director General of JSC Petrolessport believes that container business will remain an actively growing segment of the Russian transport market for quite a long time.
