Ural Steel (the “Company”) (part of METALLOINVEST) has passed an audit of its occupational health and safety management system in line with the international standard OHSAS 18001:2007.

Experts from the international certification body Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) analysed the occupational health and safety measures in place, evaluated their functionality in line with the international standard, and recommended that the Company should receive certification.

Marina Khmel, the lead auditor, commented: “The goal of the audit - to check the performance and efficiency of the management system aimed at maintaining labour safety and professional health – has been achieved. Overall, we view the implemented activities very positively. The system has been established and is operational. There are only very small inconsistencies. We will recommend that Ural Steel is granted a certificate for its occupational health and safety management system in line with the international standard OHSAS 18001.”

According to Dmitry Mitrofanov, Managing Director of Ural Steel, all METALLOINVEST businesses are committed to the highest standards of health and safety. Lebedinsky GOK, Mikhailovsky GOK and OEMK have already implemented and received certification in line with the international standard OHSAS 18001.
