West Siberian Steel Plant mastered production of more than 30 new steel grades

West Siberian Steel Plant mastered production of more than 30 new steel grades for export in 2009. Specialists have developed technology of production of new carbon steel grades with higher strength and resistance to corrosion. The chemical composition is achieved by alloying of various elements. The inclusion of chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti), boron (B), vanadium (V), niobium (Nb) has improved the properties of steel. In addition, the new grades are characterized by low contents of impurities and non-ferrous metals.
The new grades have been developed for the casting of slab and long continuous casting machines ZSMK. The billet is used to manufacture a wide range of finished products, for construction, for production of hot-and cold-rolled sheets and of welded tubes. ZSMK supplies this product to 20 countries, including North, Central and South America, Western Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East.
The new grades allow significant expanding of the markets and increasing of competitiveness. In 2009 ZSMK received a certificate of conformity for the production of continuous slabs for shipbuilding.
