Management replacements in MMC Norilsk Nickel

OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter – MMC Norilsk Nickel or the Company) announces management replacements in its Russian production units. Yevgeny Muraviev was appointed Director of the Polar Division (further PD), and Sergey Selyandin was appointed General Director of MMC Norilsk Nickel’s subsidiary Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company (Kola MMC).

Earlier, Yevgeny Muraviev was the Head of Kola MMC (since May 2009), while Sergey Selyandin worked as the First Deputy Head – Chief Engineer of the Company’s Polar Division (since July 2009).

According to the General Director of MMC Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, these appointments should enhance the efficiency of the Company’s production operations. “Both Messrs. Muraviev and Selyandin are experienced managers enjoying good reputation among their colleagues. I am positive that this rotation will benefit the whole Company and facilitate the much needed exchange of experience among our enterprises”.

Among key objectives for the newly appointed managers, the General Director mentioned efficient achievement of production targets, further cost cutting and implementation of the investment program aimed at the modernization and expansion of the Company’s production capacities.

Vladimir Strzhalkovsky also thanked previous Director of the Polar Division Victor Tomenko, who made a decision to leave the Company, for his professional approach and long-living dedication to work.

Bios:

Yevgeny Muraviev was born on August 8, 1961. He holds a degree from the Tyumen Industrial Institute (chemical technology engineer, 1984)) and from Kuban State University (economist, Ph.D., 1991). Prior to joining OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, he worked in commercial and state structures of the Krasnodar Territory, where he dealt with the issues of the region’s social and economic development. From January 2005 to January 2009, he was Vice-Governor and then First Deputy Governor of the Krasnodar Territory. In May 2009, he accepted the offer to head Kola MMC. While working as the General Director of Kola MMC he supported and initiated a number of important projects including, in particular, commencement of the briquetting plant construction in the city of Zapolyarny and continuation of the Severny-Gluboky mine construction. Mr. Muraviev was always committed to environmental and HSE issues.

Sergey Selyandin was born July 19, 1955. After graduating from the Irkutsk Polytechnical Institute as a specialist in automation of metal production, he moved to Norilsk where he worked at Nadezhda Metallurgy Plant (NMP). At Nadezhda, Sergey Selyandin grew all the way from electric fitter to deputy director for reconstruction. In 2003 he became director of the enterprise and remained in this position for more than six years. In July 2009 he was appointed Deputy Director – Chief Engineer of the Polar Division. In this position he managed important modernization and reconstruction works at NMP as well as in the field of new technology solutions for the reduction of emissions at the Polar Division. In the crisis year of 2009 he demonstrated the skills of an experienced production manager, capable of solving system tasks. As the result, the Polar Division accomplished its plans in terms of ore mining and metal production for 100%.

On the other hand, a different approach and tactics are needed for their implementation. I hope that my experience gained in the Polar Division will be successfully used at the Kola enterprises.”
