MMK to Increase Share of High Value Added Products up to 85.4 % by 2013

Increase in output and sales of high value added products and a considerable decrease in output of marketable semi-finished products have furthered raise in yield of marketable products and high diversification of business. Over the latest 10 years labour productivity at the mill has increased almost 2 times. In 2006 the share of high value added products amounted to 82% of the total volume of marketable products of ММК (11.3 mln tons). Such types of products are planned to increase up to 85.4% of the total volume of marketable products of the mill (15 mln tons) by 2013. Output of cold-rolled, galvanized and polymer coated products will increase up to 4 mln per year.

Further increase in output of high value added products is related to implimintation of a few major products of modernization at ММК: building of a plate mill «5000» with the capacity of 1.5 mln tons per year, a new cold-rolling mill «2000» with the capacity of 2 mln tons per year. 2 more units: hot-dip galvanizing unit and and a polymer coating unit are planned to put into operation in the next few years. Due to all these projects MMK will soon be able to offer high quality cold-rolled and galvanized products for the automotive, building industries, for manufacture of home appliances as well as high quality plates for the tubular industry and ship-building.
